To Preach The Kingdom of God:

The very gospel message Jesus brought is the message of the Kingdom of God, and how we can enter this Kingdom. Yes, Jesus is the way (The door) by the blood He shed on the stake of suffering, but, the way to what? A New life? Yes, but a new life where? Jesus and those that He has sent teach we must be saved. Saved from what and why, and for what? The answer is for the coming Kingdom, which Jesus is now busy preparing for us and will bring with Him at His second coming and is a very important part of the Gospel message, as you will see. The word disciple in the Greek is mathetes (math-ay-tes'); and means "a learner, or pupil" We as learned disciples of Jesus should be teaching those that are new and want to learn these truths also. We should also be helping each other study the written word of God as "iron sharpens iron" We should never think we will spend years, and years just going to church listing to a preacher on subjects of his choosing and never thinking we too must teach these truths to others. How much more would we be attentive to the minister if we knew we would be accountable for teaching others also? This does not necessarily mean we all should become ministers standing up in front of a group of brethren preaching. All do not have the same gifts, or the same areas of responsibility as we see pointed out in Rom 12:4-5. "For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another." The point is that we should know why we believe what we do and be able to teach others that may ask why we believe what we believe.

The truth is under great attack today in a way like never before and those that hate the truth of God are hard at work to destroy it. They are greedy for wealth and power, and they know that as long as the truth of God in all it's teaching of righteousness and ethical conduct stands, then they can't do what they want. Many in Government and business want Satan's ways so they can please all their lust, and corrupt all the earth without feeling guilt. You see, they know deep within that judgment is coming, but they want to deny it to themselves so they MUST change the truth of God and discredit those that will defend it. Jesus gave us as true Christians a great responsibility to uphold the preaching of the coming Kingdom of God until He returns with it. Jesus instructed the apostle John to write these words to us for these last days. "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, 'These things says He who is holy, He who is true, "He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens": "I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name."

Jesus set this open door before us and He expects us to continue to KEEP His word and not deny His Name until the end. He expects us to continue in the truth He delivered from the Holy Father without adding ones own interpretation to it. Let's not be of the church of the Laodiceans that have put Jesus out of the church where He must stand out side and knock. If we have found ourselves there, but hear Him knocking then let's be honest with ourselves and repent, and open to Him and sup with Him. If we have found that we have not brought oil for our lamps, then let's do so now, and take our calling to heart asking God what He wants us to do. Jesus came with a message that could only be delivered by someone so great that the message could never be destroyed by the powers of darkness in high places. This message is a living on going message because it was delivered by a blood sacrifice from God Himself, and as God swearing on Himself, there can be no greater or complete eternal promise to those that will believe. This is the very reason NO MAN should ever change the true gospel or the doctrine of Jesus, lest he be cursed. Let's take heed to what we preach as the word of God. Let's not mix what we THINK is truth, or what someone else teaches as truth, but let's study to find "the truth" so we can preach by "the authority" of the very Son that sits on the throne in heaven and be named among the faithful servants of God.

Let's realize that this is not about us alone, but about many others that need this gospel message for their saving and the saving of those they love. Many misguided preachers are teaching many types of false gospels today that lead people to believe they only need to accept Jesus alone and just set back letting the preachers lead others into the Kingdom or into the gates of heaven. But by doing this they are being lead into the great false system that teaches a false repentance, a false baptism, a false Christ, and a false spirit, thus a false salvation. They are even teaching the old false teaching that Satan started in the garden that we shall not surly die. They teach that all shall be saved and that it does not matter what we believe as truth we will be saved just because we had faith. They teach that God is love and will not condemn anyone that has faith in their higher power what ever that might be for the believer. Please brethren; don't be deceived, but check to see if you have your oil.

Many have read the parable Jesus gave as recorded in Matt. 25 concerning the Kingdom of God. There are many ideas about the ten virgins, and the fact that half had oil to light their lamps and half did not. Many have asked what the parable meant and what the point was. In this study we will learn the great importance of this parable and how it relates to Christians today. We will ask and answer the very important points concerning the Kingdom of God and the ten virgins as well as other scriptures that tie this parable together so we can understand and act upon the information Jesus wants us to understand for our very salvation. Jesus was not just telling a nice story to amuse those around Him. He had a point to make not only for those that would hear at that time, but as important for us today as well.

I have heard sermons about this subject from some preachers whom started with a preconceived idea they learned in their college as taught by their professors. As a result they never really look at what is stated, nor do they ask and answer the most important questions necessary to understand. Some have studied these things as topics set aside and isolated as if the only point was "ten virgins" or just the fact that half of them had oil and the other half did not. Let's also understand that the bible was not broken down in chapter and verse in the beginning of the writing of the scriptures. With this knowledge and approach we can get the true story flow and intent of statements made by not taking verses out of their proper context. The reason I bring this out here is because we must go into the preceding chapter that is now titled chapter 24 of the book of Matthew. Jesus was asked in the beginning of this chapter what would be the sign of His coming and of the end of the age. In other words they were asking a very important question, which was "When will you bring in the Kingdom of God and overpower (Or take over) the kingdoms of this world?" Jesus then gave them many warnings and signs to look for that we will not cover in this study. (You might want to get our study titled Revelation six vs. Matthew 24 for more on that.)

Let's look at the statement He made after this that ties into the statements recorded in chapter 25 referring to the ten virgins. Let's start with verse 42 of Matt. 24, "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? "Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.  "Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. Matt 24:42-47. (NKJ throughout)

So we see that the point is that the Master wants His servants to continue to be faithful and continue in those things they were instructed to do in the beginning. What did Jesus instruct the early church to do? Preach the gospel of the coming Kingdom of God through repentance and accepting Jesus' sacrifice for the atonement of sins, and feed the flock, and make disciples of all nations. (Matt 28:19-20. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the (power of the) Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Notice, "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you" That covers a great deal of scriptures and instructions, including the Ten Commandments. It also covers the very important statements and commands that Jesus gave the church after His resurrection. Also, the statement "Who then is a faithful and wise servant." Is a very important point to think about as we study, however, the main point here is stated as " Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect." This is what I call the "focal point" of the parable of the ten virgins.

Notice down in what is numbered as chapter 25 vs. one. "Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!' Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' (This in the Greek is stated as "have gone out") But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!' But he answered and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.' Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming."

We see here that the bridegroom was delayed and as a result all ten virgins slept. We also see where at midnight (A time not expected) the bridegroom came, and another point was those that were ready "went in" like into a chamber and then the door was shut. The reason the first five virgins were ready was because they had "brought oil" with their lamps. Many teach that the oil here is the representation of the Holy Spirit and this may be true, but the main point is that the five wise virgins brought oil which one knows they will need to light the lamp, and the five foolish virgins did not bring oil. It was not that they ran out of oil, but that they were foolish and did not bring any, they were not ready! Remember in the verses above that became chapter 24 in the book of Matthew stated, "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."

What was the thing they were to watch for, and what were they to be doing to be ready? Remember they were to watch for the bridegroom or the master of the house, and were to be giving their fellow servants food in due season, which is to edify the saints, as well as stated above, to preach the gospel of the coming Kingdom of God, through repentance and accepting Jesus' sacrifice for the atonement of sins, and make disciples of all nations. This also means to continue in those things that were originally delivered by the Messiah. We see thousands of churches today fast going into the Apostate church and teaching contrary to sound doctrine, and even not teaching those things that were originally delivered by the Messiah. Also on into Matt. 25 around verse 14 we read where Jesus taught again about the Kingdom of God being like a man that traveled into a far country. Before leaving, the master called His servants and gave them His goods and He expected His servants to take the goods with their talents He gave them and increase His goods while He was gone. This parable is in fact of Jesus going back to heaven to prepare a Kingdom for us, but while He is gone He gave what He had been given by God the Father in heaven to His disciples who in turn taught others, thus increasing the fruit of the garden as time went on. The point here is that one should not take what they have been freely given and not allow it to grow and be freely passed on to others.

Remember the parable Jesus told of the sower? This and the other parables Jesus used concerning the coming Kingdom of God are very important in relation to being ready for the Kingdom and what it means to take our calling to heart. Matt 13:3-43. Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: "Behold, a sower went out to sow. "And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. "Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. "But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. "And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. "But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" And the disciples came and said to Him, "Why do You speak to them in parables?" He answered and said to them, "Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. "For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. "Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. "And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: 'Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive; For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them.' "But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear; "for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it. What did Jesus mean by the parable? Let's read His answer!

"Therefore hear the parable of the sower: "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. "But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; "yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. "Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. "But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; "but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. So the servants of the owner came and said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?' "He said to them, 'An enemy has done this.' The servants said to him, 'Do you want us then to go and gather them up?' "But he said, 'No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 'Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn."'"

Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, "which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches."

Another parable He spoke to them: "The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened." All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: "I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world."

Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field." He answered and said to them: "He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. "The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, "and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. "Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"

But what will the Kingdom be like?
" Righteousness shall be the belt of His (Jesus') loins, and faithfulness the belt of His waist. The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play by the cobra's hole, and the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper's den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea." Isa 11:5-9.
