If you have faith as a Grain of Mustard seed you shall ...
Many ministers like to state if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed you can do this or that however is it true that you can ask for a mountain to be cast into the sea and it will be done? Is it true that you can cast out demons and they must leave? Is it true that you as a follower of the Messiah can’t be harmed by serpents? Is it true that you can ask in Jesus’ Name for the sick to be healed and it will happen? If these and many other promises spoken from Jesus as we find recorded in the New Testament are spoken to anyone who has faith then why is it that we don’t see any of these thing happening? The answers are recorded in the New Testament.
Many people misunderstand who Jesus was speaking to however we must realize that just because it is stated in the New Testament it is not speaking to you as we find recorded in Luke 10:17-20. “Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name." And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. "Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven."
Also the Catholic Church teaches that the Pope and the priest have the power to forgive sins based on the scripture recorded in John 20:21-24; “So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you. And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
The question is should anyone assume they have the authority Jesus gave the twelve apostles and later Paul to do anything just because it is written in the New Testament? Remember as recorded Jesus stated "Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” John 16:24. Can we say this is a statement which gives those that follow the Messiah authority to heal the sick, move a mountain, cast out demons, and many other things?
Well let’s read it like we would any other book and not take scriptures out of context. If we go back to the beginning of the chapter of the book of John (16) we read "These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble. They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me.”
Now the big question is who was Jesus speaking to? It was His twelve apostles and we know they were given this knowledge in order as stated that they would not stumble because they would be put out of the synagogues; whoever killed them would think that he offers God service or they were doing the killing according to the will of God. Did this happen? Yes it did and I also realize that this is prophesied to happen down through time as in the time the people of God was hunted down by Constantine the Great and murdered by the authority of what became the Catholic Church. We also find in history that the Catholic Church murdered many of God’s people during the Protestant Reformation as well as the Pope being greatly involved in the murder of Jews and Protestants by the Germen army under Hitler’s rule.
The fact is that most statements given by Jesus were directed at His Apostles and was never intended for anyone that read the words He spoke as many believe and that is why you can’t make a mountain be removed from its place and jump into the sea. Remember many ministers like to state if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed you can do this or that but we see in the records left for us that Jesus was speaking to His disciples and the truth is that Jesus gives authority to those He chooses and it most likely that He will not do so till He sends the two great witness to proclaim that the Christian religion is pagan and many of their beliefs are false as men have taken over the Churches for their own gain.
